As a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner with us, you’ll play a crucial role in helping participants improve their quality of life, reduce behaviours of concern, and work towards the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.

We’re looking for skilled practitioners who are ready to take on more complex cases while providing guidance to Core level practitioners. If you’re passionate about creating meaningful change and have the experience to analyse and evaluate behaviour support plans, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

As a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner at Insight PBS, you will:

  • Apply evidence-based approaches to reduce behaviours of concern for people with disabilities from early childhood through to older adults
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments (psychological, behavioural, functional and risk) to identify factors contributing to challenging behaviours
  • Develop positive behaviour support plans that address behaviours and enhance quality of life
  • Implement strategies and interventions for clients, working alongside families, carers, support workers and other key stakeholders
  • Provide training, support, modelling and coaching to ensure relevant parties can implement support strategies effectively
  • Use data analysis to monitor progress and effectiveness of interventions
  • Chair care team meetings to discuss strategies from an evidence-based, client-focused position
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders throughout service provision
  • Provide guidance and support to Core level Practitioners

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Undertaking assessments to identify causal factors of challenging behaviours and establish suitable strategies
    • Developing positive behaviour support plans based on information from stakeholders and your own assessment findings
    • Working with families, carers, support workers and other health professionals to implement strategies
    • Training key stakeholders in implementing support strategies and ensuring they understand their responsibilities
    • Collecting and analysing data to monitor intervention effectiveness
    • Evaluating and reviewing interventions, researching alternative strategies when changes are required
    • Developing a thorough understanding of clients’ disabilities through medical reports, research and observations
    • Meeting performance standards within identified timeframes
    • Chairing care team meetings with stakeholders and family members
    • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
    • Sharing knowledge and providing professional training to maximise service effectiveness
    • Co-authorising Behaviour Support Plans of Core Practitioners
    • Promoting Insight PBS services to the wider community

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields such as Occupational Therapy, Developmental Education, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing, Health Science, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counselling or other NDIS recognised qualifications
  • Experience in the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support services
  • Assessment as Proficient under the NDIS Commission PBS Capability Framework
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate behaviour support plans and other relevant data
  • Skills in providing professional practice peer supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
