At Insight PBS, we recognise that individuals on the NDIS manage their funding differently, including self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed options. Each type of funding offers varying levels of flexibility and control, allowing participants to choose what works best for them. As an organisation, we remain dedicated to supporting all individuals by continuing to offer services for those with plan-managed and NDIA-managed funding. We aim to ensure every participant has access to high-quality Positive Behaviour Support.
For a more detailed summary of the different types of NDIS Funding available, please refer to the NDIA’s website here.
Over the past few months, the team at Insight PBS has carefully deliberated and decided not to accept self-managed NDIS participants.
Why have you made this decision?
This choice is based on significant challenges we’ve faced, including late or unpaid invoices, disputes over services billed, and difficulty contacting participants to resolve issues. While this may not be the case for all self-managed participants, our internal data has shown that 80% of our self-managed participants end up not paying their invoices. This has left a significant strain on our financial team, our administration team and our customer support team. While we are growing and expanding our team, our organisation unfortunately does not have the resources or time to chase funds continually.
Aditionally, the NDIS does not assist providers in collecting unpaid invoices for self-managed participants, leaving us with limited options for debt recovery. To ensure our business remains sustainable and we can continue offering high-quality support, we’ve determined that accepting self-managed participants is not viable for us at this time.
How can I access your services?
Self-managed participants who wish to access our services can change their funding management method through the NDIS by completing a Change of Circumstances form. This process allows participants to switch to plan-managed or NDIA-managed funding, ensuring smoother transactions and reliable support.
For further guidance on changing funding, you can visit the NDIS Change of Circumstances page or contact the NDIA directly on 1800 800 110.
