Positive Behaviour Support
At Insight PBS, we specialise in delivering high-quality, person-centred Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services that are designed to improve the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities.
Our approach is built around evidence-based practices and a commitment to reducing and eventually eliminating restrictive practices, ensuring that participants can achieve greater independence and well-being.
Our Approach to PBS
PBS is a proactive, data-driven, and values-based framework aimed at understanding and addressing behaviours of concern. Our practitioners work closely with participants, families, and other support networks to create tailored interventions that foster positive behavioural changes while respecting the individual’s rights and dignity.

Key Components of PBS
Functional Behavioural Assessment
Our team conducts thorough assessments to understand the underlying reasons behind behaviours of concern. This involves gathering data on a participant’s environment, triggers, and past experiences to develop a clear picture of the factors contributing to the behaviour.
Individualised Behaviour Support Plans
Based on the assessment, we create customised behaviour support plans (BSPs) that are tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each participant. These plans focus on teaching new skills, enhancing communication, and providing participants with tools to manage their behaviour in a positive and constructive way.
Reducing Restrictive Practices
We are committed to minimising the use of restrictive practices, such as physical restraints or seclusion, in line with NDIS guidelines. Our practitioners develop strategies to gradually reduce the use of such practices while promoting positive alternatives, ensuring the safety and dignity of participants.
Collaboration and Support
Our PBS services are delivered through a collaborative approach, involving the participant, their families, carers, and other key stakeholders. By working together, we ensure that the behaviour support plans are practical and align with the participant’s lifestyle and goals. This collaboration is key to creating an environment where the participant can thrive.
Ongoing Monitoring and Review
Insight PBS recognises that positive behaviour support is an ongoing process. We continuously monitor the progress of participants, making adjustments to the behaviour support plans as needed. Regular reviews ensure that the interventions are effective and aligned with the participant’s evolving needs.
Customisation of Services
Our team works together with your care team and all involved parties to create a fully cusotmisable plan, depending on your NDIS goals. By being fully customisable, our services are able to best suit each individual.

PBS Resources
NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
The PBS Capability Framework outlines the capabilities required of individuals providing behaviour support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and has been produced by the NDIS Commission using best practice positive behaviour support (PBS) as its guidance.

NDIS Practice Standards
The NDIS Practice Standards create an important benchmark for providers to assess their performance, and to demonstrate how they provide high quality and safe supports and services to NDIS participants. Together with the NDIS Code of Conduct, the NDIS Practice Standards will assist NDIS participants to be aware of what quality service provision they should expect from NDIS providers.

Regulated Restrictive Practices Guide
The Regulated Restrictive Practices Guide explains what a restrictive practice is, and sets out information on the five types of regulated restrictive practices, being:
- chemical restraint
- environmental restraint
- mechanical restraint
- physical restraint
- seclusion

Regulated Restrictive Practices Guide (Children and Young People)
The Regulated Restrictive Practices Guide (Children and Young People) focuses on the use of regulated restrictive practices (RRP) with children and young people aged under 18 years who are participants of the NDIS. The resources aim to:
- promote the rights of children and young people with a disability
- identify special considerations and relevant safeguards
- assist NDIS providers to meet their obligations under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and relevant Rules
- provide practice advice consistent with contemporary evidence and a positive behaviour support framework
- address the questions most frequently asked by families and NDIS providers
